Inspiration
Every day, we see many people break traffic rules and get away with it. We realised that it is impossible to have as many traffic police as there are violations.
What it does
Roadlance is a mobile application which aims to help the traffic police catch the violators. Using the power of Roadlance, the size of the police force would essentially be 10x of its current size.
Roadlance is an application which enables every citizen in this country to become a police by allowing them to easily capture violations using a smartphone and submitting that to the police.
How we built it
Using RoadLance, people can report many traffic violations by taking a simple picture or a video using a smartphone. Every violation is geocoded and time stamped in real time and uploaded to our central database.
Using advanced artificial intelligence api’s for image recognition, our app is able to identify the violator using their vehicle number.
This goes straight to the local authorities who can verify the submission and impose a fine on the violators.

Synchronizing the database flawlessly between the user and the police.

We are proud of the fact that we completed the entire app in 24 hours.
What we learned
We learned a lot about CRUD operations and android development.
What's next for RoadLance
We plan to expand beyond traffic violations into others like petty theft and littering.
