After a recent road trip to Montreal, we wanted to figure out where we could make pit stops to experience the culture of the surrounding areas. A bathroom break in the middle of nowhere excited us in that we felt like we were exploring unchartered territory and inspired us to create a website that captures the spontaneity of travel. There are hidden gems everywhere, and we allowed the path of the trip and TripAdvisor's API to generate detours to take us to varied places. TripAdvisor's API allows us to filter by hotel/restaurants/attractions, cost, number of reviews and and number of stars. Our target user is anyone who wants to take a roadtrip: this could be us, intrepid college students; you, the budding software engineer who needs vitamin D; or your mother, who, with an empty nest, wants to fulfill her bucket list. We want to to empower the most adventurous travelers to delve into the unknown and the most cautious of us to taste the catharsis of exploration. We are inspired by the idea of letting detours guide us.
