What it does
Robot cat detects objects that are moving quickly and quickly rolls after them.
How we built it
We used a robot chassis kit and used an arduino to control the motors. We attached a camera that uses a detection algorithm to track objects. The raspberry pi communicates with a laptop which performs the image processing. It converts this into a desired velocity for the two sides and sends it to the arduino.
Challenges we ran into
Just dealing with the number of components to our project and addressing failures with the individual parts.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of how much we accomplished in 24 hours.
What we learned
We learned how to quickly put together a robot with advanced software and sensing capabilities.
What's next for RoboCat
This is a just a prototype. In the future, we plan on increasing the following speed of the robot dramatically and equipping it with a greater field of vision so it can follow things in front and behind of it.
