Inspiration
You've probably heard someone say "sorry, I'm just on my period". Menstruating can often lead to hormonal changes that can lead people to second-guess their own emotions. We wanted to find a way to constantly remind women about these changes, so they could feel like they have more power over the many mixed feelings and physical changes they undergo during their menses.
What it does
RoseyFlow utilizes Twilio to send users texts about what stage they're at in their menstrual cycle, to keep them aware of what changes they may be going through at the time.
How we built it
We used flask to create our form and Twilio to send messages to our users. Our platform is built on HTML and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
As beginner programmers, we taught ourselves how to build everything from scratch, and learned a lot of python in the process. We struggled to connect the information we collected to our Twilio Script, and couldn't quickly find a way to account for different lengths of the menstrual cycle, though we will soon.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built our first live-web app, used Twilio for the first time, and completed our first hackathon! This was a project of many firsts for us.
What we learned
How to use Flask, Twilio, and Google Cloud.
What's next for RoseyFlow
Eventually, it will include an information guide about hormone changes, an active user-specific calendar, and a forum to discuss the impact of hormonal birth control.
