Inspiration
We wanted to reduce food waste, by facilitating the consumption of already-bought food into simple and delicious recipes.
What it does
sadfridge.com allows you to input the ingredients available to you in your fridge or pantry and search for recipes in our database for you to make at home
How we built it
We built the site using a react native front-end, a flask back-end, and a MongoDB database.
Challenges we ran into
Connecting the database to the backend was extremely difficult, as we were inexperienced. Uploading our data was also difficult, we had to change from PostgresSQL to MongoDB to get the data inputted due to errors in our dataset
Accomplishments that we're proud of
For some of out team members, this was the first time they collaboratively worked on a software product with others. We are proud of all the progress we made.
What we learned
Building full-stack applications is hard.
What's next for sadfridge.com
Improving the UI, adding the recipes, improving usability and backend
