Inspiration:

The inspiration for this project is for safety especially at a time in our nation when we are divided and are in confusion. Our app helps people who are walking outside to feel safe and secure and will be able to share this application with any of their loved ones.

What it does

This app uses geolocation through the use of Google API by pinpointing the user location. There is a SOS feature that allows users to notify the police nearby and afterwards finds and any safehouses provided by different users. These users interact with the app to be able to show building hours so that if an emergency occurs the other users will be able to go to those safe houses.

How we built it

We leveraged Google API in our Map.js file to extract geolocation from the users device. In our Map.js file we also implemented React which is a JavaScript library that creates an interface that is dynamic and interactive. Our App.py file uses IP functions and sets up the flask app. We were meant to implement Googlemapservices.js and buildinghours.js to be able to generate building hours for safe spaces

Challenges we ran into

Narrowing many ideas into one big task. The mixture of frontend and backend was also a challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to display our thoughts and imagination through react. We got the map functionality to work. Different displays for our app.

What we learned

We learned that we should be more prepared for group activities and that was shown through using git. We learned that choosing one idea is very important. There can be clashes because people have different ideas.

What's next for Safe Stride

What's next for Safe Stride is to make sure our building hour functionality works.
