Inspiration
We realized that a lot of fellow classmates and friends had a habit for ditching class, and it was drastically affecting there grades. We realized that for the benefit of our peers and their guardians it would be best for us to develop something to solve this problem
What it does
Our app, which is similar to find my friends but with it's own unique twists, tracks the location of any family member. It's able to pinpoint the last given location of the user and also gives constant time notifications to the admin.
How we built it
To build this app we decided to use Swift and xCode to build an iOS app. We used Firebase to host our location coordinates/ database as well as our username/password database.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge we encountered were several errors involving Firebase and using xCode 9 as most of us were used to xCode 8
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to grind through our challenges and produce a functional iOS app within 24 hrs. This was our first hackaton and we were really impressed at how it went.
What we learned
We learned that coding takes a lot of time and effort to complete, we also realized we had to have better time management skills.
What's next for SafeAndSound
We would like to implement certain features that we were unable to due to the time constraint.
