SAFEcation

We want to create a webapp/ chrome plugin that tells you how safe a country is to vacation to right now. We will look at COVID data as well as crime data to score places.

Safecation is a project that helps you safely plan your trips both inside and outside the country, as a browser extension that gives you information about crime statistics of the region surrounding and airbnb and COVID-19 information about vaccination rates in the given area. This lets users compare which listings are the safest to travel to at a given time therefore allowing for a safer, more enjoyable trip in the future.

Inspiration

Our inspiration was focused on the worlds current dangers when it comes to traveling whether it be alone of with family, our goal was to mitigate those issues by informing the traveler of the dangers before hand so they can plan safely.

What it does

We made an extension that adds safety data to airbnb.com. We use COVID-19 data and crime statistics to add a safety score below each listing so users can easily compare which rentals are safest right now.

What's next for SAFEcation

We were thinking about building a standalone app that will show which states/countries are the safest to travel to.
