Inspiration
We were inspired to make a web app in relation to cinema and films. We also wanted to solve a problem in relation to films.
What it does
SafeCinema is a web app that is designed for people with disablities, physical and mental health conditions to help them select a movie for them. This is based off of factors like age, movie rating, movie rating, and triggers that the user wishes to not see.
How we built it
We used python, JSON, Flask and Gemini to get the backend running.By running prompts through Gemini in combination with user input to generate suggested movies for the user. For the frontend we used only React to create the UI/UX.
Challenges we ran into
The AI has limitations which we had to overcome using creative prompts to generate the responses that we need.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to use our limitations to the best of our abilities. Considering some of us have limited experience making websites.
What we learned
How to use python and javascript. We also learned how to use API's like Gemini and how to implement them into a project.
What's next for SafeCinema
We're going to refine our movie selection process by providing a search feature to the user.
