Inspiration

After car accidents, e-cars sould not just be touched by rescue workers like normal cars to save the lifes of the victims, because there´s a serious risk of death by electric shock. The high voltage battery can be very dangerous after being damaged.

What it does

The gloves are a tool for quick high voltage detection. They isolate the person, protect from death by electrical shock and keep one´s hands free to work. They give LED feedback instantly if high voltage is applied.

How I built it

Sensors were applied on high voltage gloves and were connected with a micro controller that controls RBG-LEDs sponsored by Osram. The higher the voltage, the faster the lights flash.

Challenges I ran into

The problem definition and the exact case, in that e-cars become a high voltage danger for rescue workers, was quite challenging to find. Because of the low number of e-cars, there are not that many cases. We wantet to solve a future problem (6 million e-cars planned by 2030).

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We haven´t had that much experiance with Ardulino coding, it was really great when it finnally worked out.

What I learned

coding and using great machines like the laser cutter.

What's next for SafetyGlove

Optimizing the integration of the sensors; measuring alternating curent as well; set up a cooperation with the automotive industry and fire worker departments
