Inspiration 💡✨

There are over 1.8 billion people who menstruate every month, even though the number is large, there still exists period misinformation, and it is considered a taboo topic in many parts of the world. Especially in developing countries like India. In order to provide accurate and reliable information, I made Saheli- Your Own Period Pal, a chatbot, bot friend, you can ask all your period-related queries.

What it does 🚩✨

It is a Python-made chatbot where the user can ask their period-related doubts and questions, and the chatbot replies with the answer appropriately.

How we built it 🧱✨

I used python to code the chatbot as well as to train the NLP model. I used replit as my project's IDE.

Challenges we ran into 🧗✨

This was my first time working on a chatbot, and also the first time actually submitting a project to the hackathon. I am really grateful for the all support I got in the hackathon's discord channel.

There were some bugs which I got to resolve, but there are still some that I couldn't :(

I faced issues integrating the model into the main.py file, but after going through some documentation, I was finally able to do it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆✨

I did this all by myself, the documentation, the slides, the demo video and, yes, the actual project. And I am so proud of it all.

I really enjoyed participating in a hackathon and making a chatbot and submitting it. Cant wait to making more projects.

What's next for Saheli 🔮✨

In the future, I wish to make a complete web- app and then integrate the chatbot into it. Also, improving the UI/UX of the chatbots. For now, the chatbot is able to answer only some questions, I wish to increase its answering ability. Even add more options and make it multi-lingual.
