Inspiration
Missing prayers due to busy schedules and lacking accountability. We wanted an AI friend that actually calls you, understands how you're feeling, and helps you stay connected to your spiritual practice
What it does
- Calls you at prayer times
- Uses AI to have natural, emotion-aware conversations
- Detects stress, tiredness, happiness from your voice/words
- Responds with warmth using voice synthesis
- Auto-journals each call to Notion with summaries, emotions, and reflections
- Supports voice cloning so it can sound like a loved one
How we built it
Twilio for calls → Cerebras (1800 tokens/sec!) for ultra-fast AI responses → ElevenLabs for natural voice → Hume for emotion analysis → Notion API for beautiful journal entries. OpenAI/Grok as fallbacks.
Challenges we ran into
- Keeping voice latency low enough for natural conversation
- Chaining multiple AI providers with graceful fallbacks
- Formatting rich Notion journal entries programmatically
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Sub-second AI responses using Cerebras
- Emotion-aware responses that actually feel human
- Beautiful auto-generated Notion prayer journals
What we learned
Voice AI needs to be FAST. Cerebras is 20x faster than GPUs. Emotion detection transforms generic chatbots into empathetic companions.
