Inspiration

The inspiration behind Saludable stems from the pressing need for accessible healthcare information, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. We recognized the importance of providing accurate and timely information to individuals seeking healthcare services, including the availability of COVID-19 medications and telehealth options.

What it does

Saludable is an innovative platform that leverages retrieval augmented generation (RAG) to provide comprehensive healthcare information to users. It utilizes advanced natural language processing techniques to retrieve relevant healthcare data and generate informative responses to user queries. The platform offers insights into the availability of COVID-19 medications, telehealth services, and other healthcare resources.

How we built it

Saludable is built using Google Cloud's Vertex AI agent builder and Google Cloud Storage to store the CSV file containing healthcare provider data. We provisioned the retrieval augmented generation (RAG) model using the Google Cloud Console, harnessing the power of Google's cutting-edge infrastructure for efficient data processing and generation of accurate responses. The platform integrates with external databases and APIs to access real-time healthcare data, ensuring up-to-date information for users.

The data used in Saludable is the most recent from HealthData.gov, which was last updated on April 19, 2024.

Challenges we ran into

Developing Saludable posed several challenges, including:

• Ensuring seamless integration of Google Cloud services and APIs for data retrieval and processing.
• Optimizing the performance of the natural language processing algorithms within the constraints of the Google Cloud environment.
• Implementing secure and scalable solutions for storing and accessing sensitive healthcare data in Google Cloud Storage.
