Inspiration
This project was inspired by the Covid-19 pandemic and its affect on the elderly. Seeing its effects on my own grandparents and the changes to their schedules and health inspired me to create SANITAS. My grandparents are not too tech savvy so I was inspired to create a website with resources to help combat the mental and physical challenges that have come with this pandemic, all in one place.
What it does
SANITAS is a one stop source for your physical and mental well-being. The focus is on maintaining good physical health and promoting connectivity. Finding ways to stay active at home can be challenging, especially if you are not too familiar with using the internet. SANITAS provides the elderly with simple and doable exercises all on one website so they can easily find ways to stay active from their home. Our other focus is connectivity. SANITAS hopes supports connect through connectivity games, scheduling calls, and sharing through blog posts. Our hope and goal is that by having all of these resources on one website, it will make it easier for the elderly to consistently working on their physical and mental health.
How we built it
SANITAS was built using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was the time limit. With so many ideas for possible features for the website, I had to narrow down the features and choose the main ones to focus on. Another challenge was finding the resources and making sure they were reliable. Once again, time was the biggest challenge as I didn't have the time to research and search the web.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud of completing the website within the time limit and creating something that is beautiful and has a meaningful purpose.
What we learned
I learned the importance of getting a plan down before beginning to code. Without that plan, I would have wasted a lot of time and not been able to finish. By planning everything out and clearly outlining the things I had to get done, I was able to do what I wanted and slightly more.
What's next for SANITAS
- completing the connectivity game and scheduling a call feature
- conduct user research (exercises for elderly, navigating the website (ux))
- completing and publishing the website for public use
