Inspiration
Our project sparked inspiration from the idea of the restriction of activities during the lockdown after a tedious brainstorming session. We also acquired this solution utilizing the design thinking process, we first identified the topic we wanted to focus on, then we shortlisted sub-topics which we can emphasize on a specific topic for our solution to revolve around. After this, we conferred the features, objectives, etc of our elucidation. It is our goal to solve world problems with simplistic hacks to make a better change for society, and we were able to do this by our project respectively.
What it does
Our automated software acts as a monitoring system that helps track the activity of an individual. When the individual is at rest for a specific time (half an hour, however, for testing purposes, 5 seconds approximately) and exceeds the preset value, it sends a notification to alert the user that he/she must get up and proceed with another activity. Now this product tackles a manifold of hazardous factors which can affect an individual, if he/she spends an exorbitant time on a device he/she may suffer from- Bad Posture, Back Aches, Neck and Shoulder Strain, Pain in Wrists — Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Eye Strain, Headaches, Stress, Physical Fatigue, Poor Sleep Patterns, Obesity and Compromised Immunity. It eliminates all known adverse circumstances of using the computer for recreational purposes by ensuring a healthy lifestyle for a human being.
How we built it
Our product makes use of a bunch of python modules/libraries. These can include Tkinter, plyer, SMTPLib, win32gui and MySQL.
Challenges we ran into
The competition taught us a lot as we learned from all the new challenges our team faced during this competition respectively, the challenges we faced taught us how to deal with it and overcome any issue that we would face. An example of a challenge we faced was the decision of coming up with the main idea, the brainstorming session was turbulent causing a clash of ideas among members of the team.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
In this competition we were able to accomplish one of the key elements of teamwork and time management, it was spectacular to see how we overcame the main issue we faced in the last 3 hackathons we participated in, the work was assigned to members with a determined deadline to complete the task, motivating the members to work hard. We are extremely proud of what we were able to create as an end product in this competition. The solution was up to the mark and we really enjoyed doing it. Our team accomplished the main understanding of approaching problems and hacking into them for a better future.
What we learned
Through the course of this competition, we enhanced our soft skills by a great deal. We acknowledged the value of teamwork in achieving a common goal in this competition. It was our task to ensure that all deadlines were met so we divided our work and learned to simplify big tasks into bits to function the process more efficiently. We gained a better understanding of the work environment and how to deal with conflicting ideas and opinions. An improvement of risk analysis was thoroughly observed during this event, our team came up with a set of virtuous ideas and solutions and decided to break down their pros and cons to come up with the supreme topic for the project. We explored a lot in terms of python automation and the endless search for new codes and ideas.
What's next for Fitness Check
- Utilizing facial recognition to improve the accuracy of the automated alert system (Created but not implemented by us yet).
- Accessible to other web browsers and Apps
- Improvise medium of notifying the user- text messages instead of Emails
