Inspiration
ScribbleBound was inspired by platformer games and sandbox games, combining user freedom with puzzles and problem solving. The goal is to complete each level, using colors available and avoiding obstacles.
What it does
This is a 2D platformer game in which the player builds platforms by painting brush strokes onto a canvas to reach the paint bucket in each level. As the player progresses, new colors are unlocked, with each brush color interacting differently with the player character.
How we built it
The game was designed using Unity's Universal 2D
Challenges we ran into
When developing a game, it goes through multiple cleanup cycles and this game was no different. There were many bugs that we had to fix just as getting rid of wall jumping, coloring through the objects, gravity not resetting, etc. We solved these problems by talking them out with each other and conducting research online.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The game was completely finished and there are quite a few levels. With such a strong time crunch we have found it difficult to complete games like this in the past.
What we learned
We learned how to use new software like Krita and Unity interacting with line renderers and layer collisions.
