The idea came from our team member who was building wired sensor systems for use in greenhauses. Our soultion is wiredless and connects to the cloud.
It's a small device with wifi module, ARM processor and ports that are used to connect many types of sensors, both analog and digital (one wire protocol). The device then connects to our server where the user can use the website to view the data, configure the sensors and add and remove devices. The data is displayed with user-friendly diagrams.
How I built it
After designing the circuits on the universal board, we soldered together transmitter module and few sensor modules. The sensors and transmitter connects together using 3.5 mm jack, that allows us to easily swap sensors and connect up to 3 digital and 3 analog sensors. The sensors that we made including luminosity sensor, digital temperature sensor and a humidity sensor.
Challenges I ran into
Difficulties with connecting analog sensors. Two days of coding without pizza.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Building the humidity sensor from scratch in 10 minutes. One of our members learned how to solder and then managed to make working part.
What I learned
Cooperation and teamwork.
What's next for SenseAgent
Extending range of different sensors.
