Inspiration

We are a group that's interested in helping underserved communities so that they won't have to go hungry. This gave us an idea to create a system that serves them based on the food we waste every day.

What it does

We created a web app that connects business owners and individuals interested in giving away cooked or perishable food. This food will be delivered/provided to the necessary soup kitchens, homeless shelters or anyone who needs it

How we built it

We built the website through React.js and created our chatbot through Dialogflow.

Challenges we ran into

We had issues in the ideation phase where we had to find a way to create a model that optimized the logistics of transferring food to those in need

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to create a functional website and donor intake form that translates to an embedded google maps platform so that we can show donors excess food inventory and other nutritional information

What we learned

We learned how difficult it is to provide those who are in need with food since there are many but they all have their own interests. We also found how difficult it would be to plan the logistics of sending our food over to the various business when they have their own different types of food and needs.
