Inspiration

This project is entirely inspired by the FOSS Community, Globally, and a vision to change the way we compute in our daily lives.

What it does

ShastraOS gives you a powerful and your own personalized desktop workstation. Powered by the beautiful UI (Gnome) which makes it more productive than Mac.

How we built it

Building a complete OS from scratch was not at all a wise task. So we decided to build it on top of Arch Linux, and Gnome desktop environment. We also integrated a multichain global wallet to interact with the dapps on your system. ShastraRepo which is hosted on IPFS/Filecoin via Spheron contains over 80 thousands software packages for daily use cases. ShastraRepo has a dedicated space dor dapps which makes decentralized ecosystem.

Challenges we ran into

Building installer and a first utility tool to setup wallet and fetch backups is not a easy tasks. We ran into lots of errors, related to the compilation, compatibility, and integration of blockchains like Solana.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are building the first ready-to-use desktop OS that will have a global-multichain dapps ecosystem. And it runs from your real hardware to your own servers.

What we learned

Building a decentralized distro is not a hard task, but building a promising robust distro is nicely time-consuming. Web3 community is always there to help you out in many cases.

What's next for ShastraOS

We aim to build a decentralized computing network and ecosystem. We will also try to make it easy for developers to deploy dapps on real hardware and with an amazing user experience.
