Inspiration

Our idea began when we heard the opening speakers share their stories at SheHacks+ 8. We wanted to create a platform where these inspirational stories can get better reach to help other women+. But we didn't stop there, we wanted to create a safe social media platform for women where they not only share their motivational stories, but also advance in their careers. As busy students, it can become a hassle to search for fitting opportunities, jumping from LinkedIn, Facebook, Indeed, EventBrite etc.. SheTribe wants to ensure that you have all the resources you need to exceed in your journey in one place

What it does

We have multiple features built in this webpage. To start, we use a gender classification AI model to ensure that no malicious intended people try to sabotage the platform. This very accurate model can tell if you are a female or male, but don't worry! this isn't as divided as you may think. If you believe that you deserve to be a member on our site, but our face detector didn't work as intended, you can open a ticket and chat with (future) customer support team to resolve the issue. Next, you have the main feature where you can post, like, comment and share stories or discussions. You can also explore the events tab where you will see a list of upcoming women+ conferences, hackathons etc. We also have a carpooling arrangements tab to make attending these events more accessible! Lastly, we included a tab for interested sponsors to have their advertisements be featured at the top of our page. We carry out these payments using secure and simple blockchain transactions

How we built it

We built the front end using React, the transaction chatbot using Voiceflow, the facial recognition using OpenCV, and Circle to carry the blockchain transactions.

Challenges we ran into

Connecting everything together ! I believe this is a common problem among web developers, but hey! that's life for ya xD

What's next for SheTribe

We will need to have a great customer support team or "open-ticket" method for when the model isn't being accurate. We want our model to be more accuarte We want to invite speakers or other women of authority personally through a referral link so they post their real events.
