Inspiration
One of the suggested idea for the hackathon, I though it was a great way to learn to develop blocks.
What it does
All you need is a table of workers, and the maximum number of hours they work each week. Then enter the details of your workplace into the settings, such as how many days you are open, how many hours, what times, and we will assign worked to fill the shifts.
How I built it
Using custom blocks on airtable
Challenges I ran into
I gained experience from my first airtable. The issue with this problem was creating an algorithm that fairly gave workers good hours.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Creating an algorithm that works, and fairly distributes the work
What I learned
I learnt to create new fields, and how to setup a table.
What's next for Shift Manager
There are so many things to add to this block. The next big thing would be working out the hours each person will work. But there are a number of options, such as setting skills, like opening and closing. Setting times when someone has to work, then working around that.
