Inspiration

We were inspired by a story that we share with many (other women) - scrolling through the internet, pining all over those amazing outfits, wishing we could have them all. As we walk into a local store, it never offers anything alike. Sure we can check the online stores, but we just get overwhelmed and lost amongst the pages of offers.

But what if there was something where we could just add a photo of our desired outfit and it would do the searching for us? That way we could easily turn our inspirations into reality and finally we would have the closet we have always dreamt about.

What it does

The app keeps your virtual closet up to date, lets you add new inspirations in form of images and get new items recommendations based on them. The user can quickly purchase wanted items with just one button and compare it to similar ones. You can upload inspiring images from anywhere - using our webapp, Chrome extension and even your smart phone camera.

How we built it

Using the Django backend technology, MySQL server, Fashwell and Cloudiary API, Chrome extension technology and Android.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was to combine all the technologies together into a joined platform, so we have spend a lot of time working with different APIs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Umh, it actually works? :P

What we learned

Just the knowledge about all those technologies that we got in these two days is so overwhelming, we're gonna need an app to store it all.

What's next for ShoppingCAT

Sleep :D

And then helping people who get inspired on Pinterest / Instagram by incorporating their APIs into our app and later also broadening our horizons with other items, not only clothing.
