Inspiration
Travelling can be a pain. You have to look up attractions ahead of time and spend tons of time planning out what to do. Shouldn't travel be fun, seamless and stress-free?
What it does
SightSee takes care of the annoying part of travel. You start by entering the city that you're visiting, your hotel, a few attractions that you'd like to see and we take care of the rest. We provide you with a curated list of recommendations based on TripAdvisor data depending on proximity to your attractions and rating. We help you discover new places to visit as well as convenient places for lunch and dinner. Once you've finalized your plans, out pops your itinerary for the day, complete with a walking route on Google Maps.
How we built it
We used the TripAdvisor API and the Google Maps Embed API. It's built as a single-page Web application, powered by React and Redux. It's hosted on an Express.js-based web server on an Ubuntu 14.04 VM in Microsoft Azure.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges with the TripAdvisor API and its point of interest data, which can be inaccurate at times.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The most awesome user interface ever!
