Inspiration

SignLearn was inspired by a deep commitment to enhancing accessibility in sign language education. We recognize the importance of breaking down barriers and providing equal opportunities for individuals to learn and communicate effectively. Our goal is to leverage technology to make sign language education more accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or abilities.

What it does

SignLearn is a prototype application that aims to promote accessibility and inclusivity in communication. It offers a user-friendly interface for learning sign language, along with AI-generated sign language animations and voice synthesis. Users can input text, and the application generates corresponding sign language animations while providing a synthesized voice output.

How we built it

In building SignLearn, we focused on integrating AI technologies for generating sign language animations and voice synthesis. We also developed a user-friendly interface for inputting text and interacting with the application. The prototype was built using a combination of programming languages and development frameworks to ensure compatibility and functionality.

Challenges we ran into

During the development process, we encountered several challenges, including integrating AI technologies seamlessly into the application, optimizing performance for real-time sign language animation generation, and ensuring accuracy and clarity in the synthesized voice output. Additionally, designing an intuitive user interface that caters to diverse accessibility needs posed its own set of challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the challenges, we're proud to have developed a functional prototype that demonstrates the potential of AI in sign language education. Our prototype showcases the power of technology in making sign language education more accessible and empowering for individuals of all abilities. or simply the idea alone make us feel proud

What we learned

Through the development of SignLearn, we gained valuable insights into the capabilities and limitations of AI in sign language animation and voice synthesis. We also learned the importance of designing accessible user interfaces and the challenges involved in catering to diverse accessibility needs.

What's next for SignLearn

Moving forward, we plan to further refine and optimize the prototype based on user feedback. We aim to enhance the accuracy and naturalness of the sign language animations and voice synthesis. Additionally, we'll explore opportunities to expand the features and functionalities of SignLearn to better serve the needs of our users.
