Inspiration

The project was inspired by the challenge of group travel planning—too many messages, too many decisions, too little clarity.

What it does

SkyBuddies connects travelers through public/private groups, smart filters, and real-time chat to make trip planning collaborative and easy.

How we built it

We used FastAPI for the backend, Angular for the frontend, MongoDB for the database, and deployed everything with Docker for scalability.

Challenges we ran into

Coordinating real-time chat, managing group permissions, and creating a UX that felt simple despite complex logic.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A fully working prototype, seamless chat integration, a sleek UI that users instantly connected with, and a AI-powered country recomender, based of filters

What we learned

Deepened our understanding of full-stack architecture, real-time systems, and the importance of user-centered design.

What's next for SkyBuddies

Maybe mobile support, and integration with travel APIs to suggest destinations and deals.
