Inspiration

With course selection coming up, we thought a useful tool for UCSC students would be a 4-year course planner. We thought students would like something a bit more user-friendly than what is currently offered by the regular planner from UCSC. Our team designed a system where users could drag and drop blocks which provides an interactive way for users to craft their own 4-year plan.

What it does

Our program allows users to search for courses from the UCSC course catalog and add them to a 4-year course planner by dragging and dropping.

How we built it

The webpage was built in React with Flask serving the API in the backend.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of the web scraping script that was put together. Connecting the back-end and front-end was also an interesting task that we accomplished. We thought the overall UI/design we came up with was user-friendly.

What we learned

As our first Hackathon, we learned a lot about working in a group. We coordinated with each other to connect front-end and back-end code. Our group was able to come together with different perspectives on the design and function of the project. We applied our different skill sets during the project.
