Inspiration

What inspired us is iThinkUPC's challenge and wanting to level up our Unity skills. We also got interest in how the Huawei Management Services can speed up the development process to enter in the mobile app market.

What it does

Is a simple responsive web game where two fighters have to push each other out the ring. In order to do that, players must press the buttons on the sides.

How we built it

We built it using Unity for the main game, and React, Amazon Web Services and Huawei Management Services to put it online. As for the Unity project, we started with the 2D template and build the mechanics upon that. It has been configured to be exported as a HTML5 project to be embeded in a React webpage. Then we deployed it in a S3 bucket in AWS to make it available on the web. Finally, we used the Huawei Quick App Service to show it in its mobile app market and the Huawei Analytics Kit to obtain useful information about number of users, average time playing and at what time as well.

Challenges we ran into

Constant bugs, lower understanding of Unity's working space and game design, technical modifications to bring a solid product and the difficulty to put the game on a web page.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to complete a full game that, although being simple, bring and enjoyable experience to players.

What we learned

From unity basics to animation creation process, UI development, deploying game on a web page, team management or asset creation.

What's next for SmackUPC
