Inspiration

Both of us care about living more sustainable but it gets overwhelming and stressful thinking about the many changes we could make in our daily lives and homes, but it is important to remember that you don’t have to do everything all at once, so we wanted to make something that helps people feel less overwhelmed and clearly knowing what steps to take to help the planet.

What it does

Gives users a daily challenge that is related to living a more sustainable lifestyle, as well as provides facts about the challenge and how it will have a positive impact.

How we built it

We used Replit as our IDE and coded in HTML, CSS and Javascript.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into numerous challenges, but the most notable being providing the ability to download the zip onto a computer and run it successfully in a browser.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the organization and the logic behind how the website works as well as being able to put together something that looks good in just 48-hours.

What we learned

We both started the hackathon knowing very little about web design, so learning how the HTML, CSS and JavaScript files interacted with each other was enjoyable.

What's next for Small Step Daily

Register a domain and host the website. More challenges Regenerate challenge Streak tracker for every consecutive day that the user completes the challenge. Display how many users have completed the daily challenge. Make the website work on smaller screens. Other languages Add sources to the displayed facts.
