Inspiration
We wanted to create something fun that also promoted one of the major themes of HOTH9 so we decided to make cute game that follows a snail and his endeavors in promoting cleaning up his home.
What it does
Follow around Sam the Snail on his journey to clean up tech scraps left out to rot! Following the sadness of his snail friend, he was tired of his slow results to see global change. Thus, he seeks to repurpose these collected tech scraps to promote sustainable practices!
How we built it
We built it in Unity Engine with C#! The sprites and some other assets were created in Clip Studio Paint.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into some problems in Github as much of our progress was deleted. We had to scrap our dialogue system since it ended up messing something up with the commits :/
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We never had experience with Unity before this, not much game development experience at all! We are proud to have created something that is functional (hopefully).
What we learned
We learned a lot about game development in Unity and C#. Most importantly, since none of us had worked on a big project in a collaborative manner before, we learned how to code in a team and how to use Github to share our code
What's next for Snailed It!
Ideally, we want to include more NPC interactions and side quests which could further tell stories relating to sustainability and the consequences of technology.
