Inspiration
With most African economies being widely embracing mobile payments, there is a gap to enable crypto holders to spend in their local markets with crypto. Our mission is to simplify crypto payments for the mass market, making business and personal transactions easier. Snappipay bridges the gap between crypto holders and businesses by enabling seamless, secure, and efficient transactions.
What it does
Snappipay is a cutting-edge payment solution designed to simplify the process of converting cryptocurrency to fiat currency for business and personal payments. By offering on-ramp and off-ramp services, Snappipay makes it easy for users to pay businesses that do not traditionally accept cryptocurrencies. Our platform offers smooth and fast transactions, ensuring that crypto holders can seamlessly spend their assets in the real world. With a strong focus on security and user confidence, Snappipay serves as a solution to crypto payment challenges, particularly for those new to crypto and looking for a user-friendly onramp and off-ramp system.
How we built it
Snappipay is built with the best tech stack at every layer of its system. Our backend is built in rust to harness its speed and reliability for fast transactions. Our smart contracts are written and tested in cairo. More testing to come in javasrcipt up as we move towards our testnet phase. We are building our mobile app with react native and intend to also have a web app before going into public testnet.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge is that could not fully execute web3 auth with our mobile app because of IP restrictions for our android developer in Nigeria. The integration too was cumbersome and we had to postpone some features for the next iteration of the app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our main achievement is having a full integration of all our project parts, backend, smart contracts and mobile app. We managed to integrate one mobile money service provider (Safaricom Mpesa) on our app ensuring a full cycle of transactions as intended.
What we learned
What's next for Snappipay
We intend to keep building the project for the next few months as our business development team handles legalities and fundraising for our varous target launch jurisdictions. We also intend to complete the integration on our remaining mobile money avenues (Airtel Money & Paystack).
