What it does
SociALL is a dynamic website built for the Neighbourhood Hacks hackathon, focusing on empowering local and small businesses. Our project aims to create a platform where community members can discover, post, and engage with local events happening in their neighborhoods. By bridging the gap between businesses, organizations, and residents, SociALL strives to strengthen community bonds and promote local events.
Key Features
Event Discovery: SociALL provides a user-friendly interface that allows members of the local community to explore a wide range of events happening in their neighborhood. Users can browse through various categories, such as music, art, sports, and more, to find events that align with their interests.
Event Posting: Registered users have the ability to create and post events on SociALL. This feature empowers local businesses, organizations, and individuals to showcase their events to a wider audience within their community. By providing a centralized platform for event promotion, SociALL helps boost event visibility and encourages community participation.
User Authentication and Dashboards: To enhance user experience and ensure security, SociALL incorporates a robust user authentication system. Users can easily create an account, log in, and access their personalized dashboards. From their dashboard, users can manage their events, view event analytics, track RSVPs, and engage with event attendees.
Event Search and Filters: SociALL offers a powerful search functionality, enabling users to find events based on specific criteria such as location, date, category, and keywords. This feature allows users to streamline their event discovery process, making it easier to find events that match their preferences and availability.
Challenges we ran into
During the hackathon, our team encountered several challenges that tested our skills and perseverance. These challenges included:
Time Constraints: The limited duration of the hackathon posed a significant challenge for us. We had to carefully plan and prioritize our tasks to ensure we could complete the project within the given timeframe. We had to make tough decisions regarding feature selection and focus on the most crucial aspects to deliver a functional prototype.
Technical Hurdles: Implementing certain features and integrating different technologies proved to be more challenging than anticipated. We encountered compatibility issues between various libraries and platforms, which required extensive troubleshooting and research. Overcoming these technical hurdles demanded collaboration, problem-solving skills, and adaptability.
Team Coordination: Working effectively as a team was crucial to our success, but it also presented its own set of challenges. We had to ensure clear and consistent communication among team members, allocate tasks efficiently, and synchronize our efforts. Coordinating schedules and managing individual workloads in a remote setting required adaptability and effective use of collaboration tools.
