Inspiration
Kevin Lewis' talk at MLH Hackcon EU 2017, where he said that you should always leave the next committee in good standing to continue your work after your departure.
What it does
Stores data about society events, income, expenses, and industry contacts.
How we built it
We used normal HTML and CSS on the front-end, with Javascript and Node.js as middleware to communicate with a MySQL server running in AWS.
Challenges we ran into
It wasn't easy. We very quickly realised we needed some sort of backend and neither of us had used Node.js before. We constantly had to ask for help to get stuff to work :(
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Some of the app actually works!
What we learned
Web Dev isn't a walk in the park.
What's next for SocietyManager
Make the rest of it work, incorporate Firebase Authenication, and extend its functionality.
