Inspiration
Our project draws inspiration from BetterHelp, an online mental health platform offering direct services to clients. We firmly believe that mental health care is vital for all individuals. However, there are times when sharing our struggles with family or loved ones may not be easy. With this in mind, our dedicated team at Bun Real has developed a web application. Our goal is to connect people facing similar mental health challenges, providing them with a supportive space to share their thoughts. By fostering connections, we aim to contribute to their healing journeys and, importantly, promote suicide prevention.
What it does
- Personalized and Adaptive AI Chat Bots Our project utilizes AI to create chatbots with personalized adaptation. These chatbots deliver tailored responses by learning from user interactions, ensuring natural and engaging conversations for different types of users. OpenAI API is implemented in our backend, those chatbots stand ready to provide ongoing support whenever needed. Our platform features four specialized default chatbots, each designed to address specific mental health challenges.
- Create or Join a Group/Event SolaceSync allows users to have to create or join group chats initiated by other users who have overcome or are currently facing similar mental health challenges. This feature fosters a sense of community and mutual support, allowing users to connect with others who can relate to their experiences and provide valuable peer support.
- Anonymous Emotion Connection This is one of the upcoming features in our development pipeline. Our plan is to leverage machine learning to understand users' behaviors and connect them with individuals who share similar mental health challenges.
How we built it
We built this using OpenAI and Langchains APIs, React, Node Js, JavaScript, Html, CSS, and express.
Challenges we ran into
We worked in two sub teams: frontend and backend. When the project was coming to the end, none of us can figure out how to bring the output in the command line to the frontend, and the site crashed when we tried to run the live server. Our communication was also challenged a lot, due to our location and time differences (one of our team member is in Texas), we had to work 100% virtually. The saddest part is that one of our teammate's computer broke 1 hour before the submission time :( Even though our project is not yet completed and ready for testing, the AI implementation in our backend works successfully and can be tested via the command line.
What we learned
Effective communication can save lots of times. Most importantly, never back down, never give up!
Good job everyone!
