Inspiration

App to reduce the stigma of mental health by sharing your feelings spontaneously and anonymously.

What it does

SoulScribe is an application with the aim of reducing people's feelings of isolation and the stigma surrounding mental health. Often, individuals may feel compelled to hide their emotions, leading to increased loneliness and difficulty in seeking support. SoulScribe aims to counteract this by providing a platform where users can anonymously share their feelings with their community.

Features

Anonymous Sharing: Users can freely express their emotions without fear of judgment or repercussions, fostering a supportive environment for open expression. Community Statistics: Users can view aggregated statistics about the emotions shared within the community, promoting awareness and understanding of common struggles. Mood-based Podcast Recommendations: The app analyzes users' expressed emotions and suggests relevant podcasts to help them explore and manage their feelings.

How we built it

Back-end

  • Leveraging Spotify API to provide users with personalized podcast recommendations based on their expressed emotions.
  • Implemented Open AI's API to train and develop LLMs, analyze Journal entries of users, and determine their mood based on our scaling metric

Front-End

  • Develop interface using React
  • Designed frameworks of apps using Figma
  • Tinkered with Swift to develop IOS APP

Challenges we ran into

  • There were a lot of firsts in this project: we learned and implanted Spotify and OpenAI APIs and used React and animation in Figma.
  • We had a lot of issues with OpenAI security keys and the ability to code simultaneously.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Integrating new and interesting technologies into a working demo

What we learned

API's are not that hard to use
