What it does

  • Mobile Application that allows users to connect. to safe environment to refresh their views on themselves.
  • Able to share, comment, favorite and be part of a community.
  • Able to download and read all articles from the API

How I built it

  • Using Android Studio, with my knowledge of Java.
  • UX/UI frame work in Photoshop.
  • Firebase database to connect the users.
  • Researching App Store and Google Play to see what is available.
  • Visualizing the whole application on wide scale practice.

Challenges I ran into

  • Not enough time to implement everything.
  • Limited to women who have access to tablets or mobile phones

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

  • A good working prototype that demonstrates it uses.
  • Shows the significance of being safe online.
  • Good use of social media, able to share.
  • Implementing the API to display the data.

What I learned

  • Learnt how important it is to help young girls with their body confidence.
  • How media affects our body image.

What's next for Soul Train

  • I would like to continue with mobile development, and continue.
  • If given the opportunity to develop this application, I would love to see how it affects young girls around the world.
