Inspiration
We were inspired by many popular games, and the theme Out of this World which we interpreted as something space related.
What it does
Our game starts on an abandoned foreign planet due to our protagonist’s, izafetichine, plane crashing. The player has to explore the planet and break into a large bank housing a new plane. There are many puzzles that need to be solved in order to open the vault door. Once the vault door is open the game ends and Izafetichine can travel home safely.
How we built it
We used C# and Unity to make Space Heist. The IDE we used was Visual Code Studio created by Microsoft.
Challenges we ran into
Two hours of the hackathon started, the laptop that was running Unity unexpectedly crashed. We lost all our progress for the animations, so we were basically back to square one. The code for the puzzle “simon says” was correct, but were rigorously trying to debug flawless code. In hour was invested into this debacle, even though it was a simple front-end fix on Unity.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Something our group is proud of is programming and implementing both of the puzzles into our game. The puzzles were hard to debug, especially since we had to test them manually, start to end.
What we learned
We learned to frequently save our code or work, especially after major accomplishments. In the future, we were prepared for unexpected adverse events.
What's next for Space Heist
We definitely would want to add more cut scenes and puzzles and more story if we had more time.
