Inspiration
I was inspired to make this by a game in which you fought enemies along the train, and tried to get to the end of the train. This game also had very high graphics, which made me a lot more interested in it.
What it does
This is a simple game in which you must capture the aliens who were planning to destroy the Earth with a special, blue train. In order to win, you must capture 41 mini-aliens and 1 boss-alien by eliminating them. Beware of the terrain, though, as visibility is low, and aliens could be hiding anywhere! You will only be able to save the Earth if you capture every alien; even if you leave one behind, their plan will succeed.
How we built it
I used Unity and some free assets from their marketplace to make this game. I also used Unity's First Person Microgame Tutorial Template to get the basics, such as movement, ready. This way, I could focus on game content, storyline, and graphics.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge was figuring out Unity, as I had never used it before. I was also confused with some functions of the C# language.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud that I made my first game. I'm also really happy that I managed to get a get a good-looking game made within a day.
What we learned
I learned that game development is harder than it looks in a lot of aspects. I also learned that exporting video game projects takes a lot of time :)
What's next for Space Save
I want to improve this game a lot, since what I made right now is just a bare-bones version I managed to get together in a day. This includes aspects like storyline, adding in a countdown timer, enhanced graphics, and maybe even cutscenes???
