Inspiration
In the future, agriculture on other planets and human colonies will be limited to the crops that can thrive in those environments. Humans also need to dedicate their time to the advancement of space exploration. Spaceburger solves both these issues.
What it does
Spaceburger is an assistant that communicates in natural language that can facilitate restaurants and food supplies all at once. It can keep inventory and communicate to users on what they want, and place orders as the user confirms - like a store manager and cashier all in one.
How we built it
The frontend was implemented in React and NextJS. We used TailwindCSS and Typescript in our frontend as well. The architecture is fully serverless and deployed on an AWS stack (Route53, API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, Amplify). Because of this, it can scale to millions of concurrent users without upfront costs.
Challenges we ran into
- Communication - some of us were not used to working in a small group with version control systems.
- Time management - the scale of our project was so large that we worked until the last hour to finish.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of completing the project and making a full RAG pipeline that can interact with external databases and is able to intelligently communicate with end users.
What we learned
We learned how to work better as a team and new technologies such as AWS and NextJS.
What's next for SpaceBurger
We plan to scale it to actually work with restaurants - syncing the supply with their local supply, and placing actual orders instead of mock ones.
