Inspiration
I am sure many of us have encountered the issue of repetitive emails. No matter what one does we are just cant get rid of them. Pesky little things they are, so much so that even google can't stop them. This is where spam clean comes in. An application to target specific mail at the user's request.
What it does
Our application aims to aid users by relieving them of not only spam emails but also stress. This extension can be used effortlessly via its GUI and can be activated with just a click of a button. It can target specific emails by classifying them using markers provided by the client. It can automatically tag incoming mail and then decide using our algorithm whether it passes the threshold set by the user.
How we built it
It was built using a simple HTML code with some java. We started off by creating a website as a landing page. Then we designed the algorithm to integrate in our extension. Then we followed Google's guidelines for building a chrome extension.
Challenges we ran into
Publishing a extension on the google store was our biggest hurdle. Although we were able to come up with an idea, design and algorithm, we weren't unfortunately able to publish out work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite having a team mostly comprised of first-timers we were still able to get things done. We preserved through tough times and were able to act as a team.
What we learned
We leant about setting realistic expectations and distributing the work according to the team's skills
What's next for SpamClean
We hope to get it published soon and then keep iteration over it to improve performance.
