Inspiration

The inspiration came from the anxiety from climate change disasters that people experience in stressful times. We decided to combine wildfire incidents with climate anxiety.

What it does

SparkSense is an early wildfire detection tool that informs and alerts first responders to take action with ease. It expedites the process of responding to emergency wildfires.

How we built it

MERN, Vercel for deployment.

Challenges we ran into

Data analysis of filtering through tens of thousands of json data and using Gemini AI to determine the likelihood of a wildfire based on weather conditions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting an accurate result from our early detection tool using Gemini and providing valuable information retrieved from weather apis. This is a practical application that can benefit first responders in emergency situations like wildfires.

What we learned

We learned a lot about setting up CRUD operations for a MongoDB database and filtering JSON data to feed into the latest Gemini API model.

What's next for SparkSense

Expanding our services to a larger scope globally. We currently provide information for North America, but plan on increasing our global impact around the world.
