Inspiration
The state of the global economy is the collective extension of the lives of each and every person. Keeping that in mind, we thought it to imperative to manage and inform the general public regardless of their economic condition. We, as novice developers, wanted to become the change that inspired people to regularly supervise their financial information.
What it does
Not everyone has the financial knowledge nor the time to collect, categorize, and encapsulate their financial standing and information. As a result of which, most end up neglecting it and end up in an unfortunate financial pitfall. We solve this problem for them. Our software solution is a modern yet simple GUI that encourages a new financial standard. It provides the following features such as but not limited to graphical transaction breakdown, transaction history, and a detailed mapping of financial spendings.
How we built it
Using GitHub and Visual Studio Code we ensured that each of our workstations were kept up to date with each corresponding change. We navigated through several obstacles and tackled through numerous problems but kept our morals high. Initially we considered the option of using Firebase to handle our database and authentication as its praised for this exact function however, Firebase could not be fully sufficient given the time restrictions. We instead compiled a huge list of accounts and transactions data into a JSON file to parse through and it was proficient in providing trends.
Challenges we ran into
A few of the challenges we ran into were: Firstly, the division of labour on the basis of each persons strength and personal choices. It was difficult to fairly distribute work due to the gap in the coding expertise of the group members. Secondly, problems with GIT collisions.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Through this project, we have taken a stop closer to ensuring financial stability for the public. We are proud of the fact that we managed to come as close as we could to effectively implement our idea.
What we learned
We have learned how to effectively orchestrate a team working environment where we were able to freely discuss our ideas and concepts. Our progressive growth in our communication with each other throughout the hackathon enhanced our interpersonal communication skills while bolstering our web development and problem solving skills.
What's next for SpendWiseFAMS
If this project proves to have some initial success, then we would collectively work on it further to make more out of it and improve its possibility of having an impact on the public.
