What Inspired us
Our team was deeply inspired by the impact that "move and earn" mobile games can have, not just on individual health but also on the environment. We recognized the potential to leverage gamification to motivate people to adopt healthier lifestyles and reduce their reliance on cars, thereby contributing to a cleaner environment. Our primary goal was to create an app that not only rewards users for being active but also promotes eco-conscious choices.

What it does
Is a mobile application designed to promote a healthy lifestyle while simultaneously addressing environmental concerns. In SportX, users earn a unique cryptocurrency by engaging in various physical activities, such as walking, cycling, and using public transportation. Imagine where users can buy and own digital land plots within SportX. These plots will be strategically located across the app's expansive landscape, each with its unique characteristics and potential for rewards. This innovative project was inspired by the desire to encourage people to lead healthier lives and reduce their carbon footprint.
How we built it
Our project took shape through a combination of technologies and frameworks:
- Backend: Next.js, providing a solid foundation for our application.
- Frontend: React Native with Expo, ensuring a user-friendly and visually appealing interface.
- We employed Solidity to create the smart contract that powers the cryptocurrency rewards system.
- To establish seamless communication between the frontend and backend, we utilized WebSocket technology.
- We integrated Google Maps API to accurately track user movement and calculate distances for reward distribution.
Challenges we ran into
- Communicating effectively with the smart contract within the mobile application proved to be more challenging than anticipated.
- Obtaining precise user geolocation for movement tracking and distance calculation posed technical difficulties.
- Designing a system to validate distances traveled by users to ensure fair cryptocurrency distribution was a complex task.
- UX: Creating an intuitive and user-friendly interface that users could easily navigate was a continuous challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have built an app that is useful outside the hackathon and provides a solution to the ecology and healthy human problem and one of our most significant achievements that fills us with pride is our ability to create a game of this caliber in such a short timeframe.
What we learned
- We delved into the intricacies of developing smart contracts and learn integrating a smart contract into a mobile application required us to establish seamless communication between the frontend and the blockchain.
- We utilized Google Maps APIs to track user locations accurately. This feature was essential for verifying physical activities like walking and cycling, ensuring the authenticity of user actions.
- To enhance security and user experience, we implemented authentication through Web 3.0 providers, allowing users to securely access their accounts.
What's next for SportX
- Token-Powered Physical Challenges: Enable users to create physical challenges on SportX where participants can run or ride bicycles. A token pool is collected from participants, and the first person to complete a specified distance either by running or biking will share the prize pool. This feature can promote physical activity and competition while incorporating blockchain technology for transparency and security.
- Sport Coaching Courses: Introduce the ability for sports coaches to create and sell their coaching courses on SportX. Provide a user-friendly interface for course creation and sales, along with mechanisms to ensure the quality of content.
- Sports Social Network: Transform SportX into a sports-oriented social network. Enable user profiles, news feeds, forums, groups, and other features to foster community building and interaction among athletes and sports enthusiasts.
- Land Auctions: Incorporate virtual land auctions where users can bid to purchase virtual land parcels. These parcels can be used for various in-platform activities, adding a gamified element to SportX.
- Expand SportX to other countries and subdivide virtual land into smaller plots to make it accessible to a broader user base.
