What is SpotiMaster?

Excited to attend musical events now that artists are returning to the stage? So are we. Don’t have someone to attend those events with? We’re here to help. We are a service that helps connect you to others in your area based on your most listened-to artists on Spotify.

How does SpotiMaster work?

It’s as simple as signing into your Spotify account, providing your city, and sharing your social media handle to help you connect with others. We’ll then give you your 10 most listened-to artists and their upcoming events in your area. From this, you can connect and make plans with nearby users who share the same favorite artists. Your music. Your experience. Your people.

How we built it

We first created a wireframe and prototyped our project in Figma. We then worked on developing the project via GitHub and Visual Studio Code, where we utilized Spotify and TicketMaster's APIs. The languages we used include Python, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

Challenges we ran into

We ran out of time to finish implementing the coding portion of our project, particularly because we ran into issues implementing Spotify's API and making the top artists feature work for multiple Spotify accounts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the idea we came up with, which is not only relevant to the Studio Track of this hackathon, but also to helping people connect meaningfully in a post-pandemic world.

What we learned

We learned more about various APIs, combining various languages to create a project, and working in a hackathon group.

What's next for SpotiMaster

With more time, we would finish the coding portion of our project and create a fully-working version.
