Inspiration

The inspiration for Starmaker came from recognizing the vast gap between aspiring musicians and the tools necessary to achieve stardom. We saw how major labels equipped their artists with an army of songwriters, producers, marketers, and strategists, which seemed an insurmountable advantage over independent artists. Our vision was to democratize access to these resources, making it possible for any aspiring artist, regardless of their background or connections, to have a fair shot at global fame.

What it does

StarMaker is an AI-powered app designed to guide aspiring musicians through the entire process of launching their music career, from song creation to global promotion. It offers a suite of tools including a genre and market analyzer, album creation suite with personalized songwriting and cover design, strategic planning dashboard for distribution and budgeting, and a dynamic social media planner. Each tool is tailored to the artist's unique sound, genre, and target audience, ensuring a customized approach to achieving stardom.

How we built it

I built Starmaker by getting feedback from local artists and then implemented the solution by leveraging AWS' party rock app builder; providing prompts that helped power widgets that addressed specific pain points discovered during the survey.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was ensuring the AI accurately understood and adapted to the vast diversity of music genres and artist intentions. Balancing the AI’s creative suggestions with the artist’s originality was also complex, as we aimed to inspire rather than dictate. Additionally, creating a seamless, user-friendly interface that integrated all different functionalities into one cohesive platform posed significant design and technical hurdles.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of creating an app that truly democratizes the music industry, providing independent artists with resources previously available only to those signed to major labels. Successfully integrating multiple AI technologies to offer personalized, genre-specific advice, and real-time market insights is a significant technical accomplishment. Above all, I'm proud to empower artists with the tools to express themselves, reach their audience, and manage their careers with confidence.

Throughout this journey, I learned about the intricate dynamics of the music industry, the importance of personalization in creative endeavors, and the potential of AI to transform traditional industries. I gained insights into the challenges independent artists face, refining our approach to genuinely meet their needs and aspirations.

What's next for Starmaker

The next step for Starmaker is to implement actual beat generation AI tools, enabling users to create music backing tracks tailored to their song's mood and genre. This will involve developing an intuitive interface for beat customization and integrating advanced audio processing AI to ensure high-quality, original compositions. By adding these capabilities, Starmaker will offer an even more comprehensive suite of tools for aspiring artists, making it a one-stop shop for music creation, marketing, and career management.
