Inspiration

The inspiration came from Tinder, where people swipe cards that they like to find a match. We thought of bringing this gamification style of gaining users interest in the financial sector, which may be intimating and technical for some.

What it does

The app allows user to add watchlist of their favourite stock that interest them by just swiping the relevant, swiping right to add to the watchlist. A collection of 10 cards would be shown to the user every-time the user logs into the app, which would be selected at random from a random industry (e.g. Gaming, Automobile) that the user is interested in. The cards would contain information of a random stock which could be a household name like Netflix, Toyota, etc, containing information such as the stock price and a short description of the company.

How we built it

The web application is built using Vuejs3 and Node.js, Bootstrap 4, and a few libraries for Vuejs & Node.js.

Challenges we ran into & What we learned

As we were new to Vuejs, we spent quite a while to learn and understand the framework. We were able to create the local registration & authentication and the swiping mechanism separately, but were unable to combine it and implement all the intended features due to time constraint. There were quite a few bugs that took a while to fix as we were relatively new to vuejs, which resulted in quite some time spent debugging the application.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to implement a local registration & login authentication, create a basic vue 3 web application, complete the basic swiping mechanism of the list of cards, which allows cards are able to be swiped.
