How we built it
Store Scan is a React Native app built to streamline document scanning and storage. It utilizes the Spheron storage SDK for scanning documents using your device's camera. The scanned documents are then securely stored on Filecoin's IPFS, ensuring permanent and decentralized storage. To manage the data, Store Scan leverages the Tableland SQL database, providing a distributed and secure solution. With Store Scan, you can effortlessly scan, store, and access your documents, all within a user-friendly interface.
Challenges we ran into
One of the significant challenges encountered during the development of Store Scan was the integration of web3 libraries into the React Native framework. React Native is primarily designed for mobile app development, while web3 libraries are typically built for web applications. This mismatch in platforms posed challenges in terms of compatibility, functionality, and resource availability.
The first challenge revolved around platform compatibility. Web3 libraries heavily rely on specific browser features and APIs that are not readily available in the React Native environment. This required finding alternative solutions or adapting the libraries to work within the React Native ecosystem. It involved carefully navigating the differences between web and mobile platforms to ensure seamless integration.
The second challenge involved native module integration. React Native uses native modules to bridge JavaScript code with native functionalities. Integrating web3 libraries often required creating custom native modules or finding existing community-supported modules that provided the necessary functionality. This step demanded in-depth understanding and expertise in both React Native and the underlying native platforms.
What's next for StoreScan
In the upcoming phases, StoreScan is dedicated to achieving a production-ready state by finalizing the codebase, conducting comprehensive testing, and addressing any issues or bugs. The focus will be on optimizing performance and ensuring a reliable and seamless user experience.
StoreScan plans to introduce subscription plans, offering different tiers of service to cater to diverse user needs and usage patterns. This will provide users with flexibility and options as they utilize the application.
Enhancing access control will be a key priority, with the implementation of robust user authentication and authorization mechanisms. This will enable users to securely manage document access, ensuring that only authorized individuals can view and interact with stored documents.
Live document sharing is on the horizon, featuring decentralized technology and access control.
