Inspiration
I’ve experienced the same loop over and over: build a pitch, present it, then realize afterward what didn’t land. The most valuable feedback comes too late. I wanted a way to see that reaction before the meeting, not after.
What it does
StoryDeck is a Chrome extension for Google Slides that helps you build and test presentations. It generates structured decks from an idea, improves slides, adds visuals, and simulates feedback from different perspectives like investors and coaches.
How we built it
We built StoryDeck as a Chrome extension that integrates directly into Google Slides. It uses LLMs to generate slide content, refine messaging, create visuals, and produce structured critiques across different personas. The UI is designed for fast iteration between building and testing.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge was making feedback actionable instead of vague. Early outputs were too generic or too long. We improved this by structuring responses into clear sections like first impression and key concerns. Another challenge was making the experience feel fast and intuitive inside Slides.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a tight build-test loop inside a familiar tool. The ability to switch perspectives (investor vs coach) makes feedback feel real and useful. The demo clearly shows how a weak deck becomes more convincing through iteration.
What we learned
Clarity matters more than volume in feedback. Short, direct critiques are far more useful than long explanations. We also learned that showing multiple perspectives helps users understand different dimensions of persuasion, not just content quality.
What's next for StoryDeck
We plan to expand persona types (e.g. customers, partners), improve feedback precision using structured outputs, and add scoring and version comparison. Longer term, we want StoryDeck to become a real-time “audience simulator” for any presentation.
