Inspiration

The idea for StudentSwap was born out of a common struggle faced by students everywhere—finding affordable, accessible resources to support their academic and professional journeys. From expensive textbooks to scattered study materials, and the lack of a supportive community to share tips and advice, we saw a need for a platform that could bring students together to share resources and support one another. Our inspiration came from the belief that education should be collaborative and accessible to all, and that students can thrive when they help each other succeed.

What it does

StudentSwap is a comprehensive resource exchange platform designed specifically for students. It enables users to:

Exchange Textbooks and Study Materials: Share and borrow textbooks, notes, and study guides with peers.
Share Tips for College Life: Offer advice on dorm hacks, study strategies, and more.
Get Career Advice: Connect with alumni and industry professionals for career insights.
Find Local Internships: Discover and apply for local internships that align with career goals.
Suggest Universities: Receive personalized university recommendations based on academic profiles and career aspirations.

How we will build it (or someone else will)

We built StudentSwap using a combination of modern web development technologies and design principles:

Frontend: Developed using React.js for a dynamic, responsive user interface.
Backend: Built with Node.js and Express for robust server-side functionality.
Database: Implemented with MongoDB to efficiently manage user data and resources.
Google Extension: Created with JavaScript and integrated seamlessly with the web platform.
Mobile App: Developed using React Native to ensure a consistent user experience across devices.
UI/UX Design: Focused on user-centric design principles to create an intuitive and engaging interface.

Challenges we might run into

Throughout the development of StudentSwap, we encountered several challenges:
