Inspiration
Being a student we encounter insufficient help from facebook groups on a daily basis. Seeing as more and more people seek help with studying on closed social media groups which are only limited to the group members, we wanted to provide a platform for students from different universities. Students from the whole city can collaborate, freely ask technological, uni-connected questions and find talented students to answer them. Our app is exactly that.
What it does
The app lets users to create their own profile, search and share their resources and study materials, as well as ask tagged questions about their own tasks and problems. Each user has a point counter that enables them to apply for interesting job positions and student organizations. They can collect the points by answering others' questions.
As we enter the app, we see a wall of posts which we can filter by tags.
How we built it
We have developed a many-paged android application using Android Studio.
Challenges we ran into
The time was short. We have encountered some technical difficulties with choosing the environment for our development. There was also a question of developing either a web app or mobile app, but in the end, we are very happy with our choice. We deep the mobile app is better for busy students to use on-the-go and in different locations without the need to bring their laptop.
The temperature in the working area was critically low, so we were basically freezing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A great idea that might become a truly well-accomplished project in the future.
What we learned
We have learned to work under the _ pressure _ of time and organize our project well.
What's next for Studly
There are some areas that could be improved in future releases. For instance, a collaboration with student organizations or coffee shops (exchanging app points for coffee discounts), linking our app with other resource exchange based sites such as stack overflow. We will be able to upload photos to the app, scan them and convert them to text, providing a better search engine. There will also be a possibility of choosing users' favorite tags, preferences which would be displayed by default.
