Inspiration
Inspired by our upbringing in Canada's agricultural community, we've witnessed firsthand how inaccurate or erroneous translations in weather forecasting can lead to costly mistakes in farming.
What it does
Wheat Together is a weather app that translates up-to-date weather information from English to French, while also providing essential localized weather details for the user's region. This dual approach ensures that farmers and others in the agricultural sector have access to both general forecasts and specific regional data in their preferred language, greatly aiding in informed decision-making.
How we built it
We built Wheat Together using HTML and CSS for the user interface and Java for backend operations. The app incorporates WeatherBit API for up-to-date weather data and leverages the Google Cloud Translation AI for accurate English-to-French translations
Challenges we ran into
- One of the challenges we ran into early on in our project, is that when converting languages the UI changes. -Parsing Through the weather data
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- The implementation of AI
- The design of our UI
- The translation Capability of our extension -information Accuracy ## What we learned
- We learned about the Agriculture Industry
- Learned how to incorporate Google Translation API
- Implementing Google add-ons
What's next for Wheat Together
- We want to incorporate a visual graphic AI that will show farmers cold and warm frontiers coming in so that they can react appropriately
